Janina Schnick

Lead, SUNCASA Project

Janina Schnick is the Lead for the SUNCASA project with IISD’s Economic Law and Policy Team. She has over 12 years of experience in international development, consulting, and government relations, with expertise in agriculture, climate mitigation and adaptation, and clean energy.

After starting her career in global health, Janina spent 5 years in Kenya with the agricultural social enterprise One Acre Fund, managing government relations across East and Southern Africa. She subsequently worked with CARE and Dalberg Advisors in Guinea Conakry before transitioning to focus on international climate adaptation projects with the German Ministry of Agriculture. Most recently, Janina was a senior project manager at the Swiss foundation myclimate, where she designed new climate mitigation projects for the compliance carbon markets in Africa and Asia.

She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Cambridge and a master’s degree from the Institute of Development Studies in Brighton.

Janina is fluent in English, German, French, and Italian and speaks intermediate Portuguese. She is based in Kigali, Rwanda.
